Studies of educational psychology have affirmed the existence of individual differences among individuals in learning method, as most educational and psychological research indicates that there are significant differences between students’ learning methods.


However, The learning method has been defined as "the way in which the individual perceives the learning experience or the preferred method used by the individual to organize and process information and experience. Knowing students’ learning methods helps the teacher to provide educational opportunities for them according to their learning styles, so that he can adapt his methods and the surrounding environment to suit the learning styles of his students.


Studies in the field of learning methods have found that a teacher's focus on one teaching method might affect positively on some students when it is consistent with their learning method. In the other hand, it may have a negative impact on other students when the teaching method does not match With their learning style. In addition, Studies have shown a strong correlation between teaching methods and student’s achievement.


Dimensions of the Learning Methods Scale:

The dimensions of each learning method are determined according to the following types of learning methods:


  • • Characteristics of learners.
  • • Pre-learning strategies for learners.
  • • Teaching strategies preferred by learners.
  • • Students' reactions to learning situations.
  • • Preferred assessment methods for learners.


Target groups:

Students in the secondary and university levels.



What are the learning methods?

There are three categories for learners:

  • Auditory
  • Visual
  • Tactile / Kinesthetic


Auditory:
A learner who prefer to receive the information orally and partially so that he can understand the details and parts, and then arrange the information cumulatively in order to reach the full and comprehensive meaning of information.



Visual:
A learner who needs the visual tools in order to learn and understand new concepts and information, through mental maps, diagrams, and lists of the target subject. They learn through mental imagery as a strategy to adapt to learning situations that do not suit their learning style. They also prefer (all) before (partial) by using their senses.


Tactile / Kinesthetic:
 They learn by doing and rely on the physical interaction In their learning processes, they need to be active in their participation so that they can understand and comprehend new concepts and information. They also need to manually practice what they learn, so that they fully understand what they are learning. Furthermore, those learners like experimenting in practice
