 Positive Youth Development Scale

Positive Youth Development Scale:

Positive Youth Development Scale is compatible with the local and Arab environment and has benefited from the global scale, (Positive Youth Development Inventory), designed in 2012 by (Arnold, M.E., Nott, B. D., & Meinhold, J. L.) from Oregon State University in the United States. The scale meets the needs of individuals and practitioners in youth-oriented developmental programs, for an easy and accurate tool to measure the positive development among young people. Out of its social responsibility, the National Center for Assessment has adapted the scale to be valid for the local and Arab environment. The Positive Youth Development Scale is used to help young people acquire the knowledge and skills they need to become positive and productive individuals, thus building on the strengths of individuals and recognizing their distinctive contributions. The scale can be used by a broad cross-section, including practitioners in care services for young people, program managers and researchers.

Age Group:

The scale covers the age group (12-22 years)

Scale Objectives:

  • To provide youth with information on their strengths in the six areas covered by the scale, and to link them with training and enrichment programs aimed at those areas where they need to improve and work more to develop themselves in.
  • To design youth development programs according to the six areas of positive youth development and to measure their effectiveness.
  • To provide student counseling by identifying the levels of student development individually or collectively in the areas of the positive growth of youth and to disseminate school programs for their development.
  • To conduct research and studies in the field of youth development, the associated problems, and the factors related to the creation of a family and social environment that enables positive development for them.
